City Reporting Workshop

Learn the art of presenting straight from our city reporters in this 12-hour workshop led by a professional journalist.

Designed for secondary schools, this is a school programme suitable for a class size of 10-12 individuals. The course is set over six lessons (two hours each), with at least one of these sessions taking place at the SCMP office.

This interactive course aims to immerse participants in the world of broadcast journalism and includes a tour of a real working newsroom at SCMP. At the end of this workshop, students will write and present their very own city report.

What You Will Learn

In this in-depth workshop, participants will get to sharpen their reporting abilities and master the art of storytelling. Here they'll need to develop research skills as they delve deep into our city's urban stories, strengthen their communication abilities by undertaking interviews with relevant subjects, and elevate their presentation skills by crafting compelling and informative reports, harnessing the power of creative visual aids to enhance overall impact. There'll also be opportunities to work on photography skills, critical thinking, English writing and speaking, and more, helping participants to become a well-rounded and persuasive communicator.

Above all, participants will learn how to apply these essential skills to their own life, enabling them to confidently deliver presentations with clarity and conviction.
